Meaning, I am getting music, but it's crappy midi and doesn't have the full impact that it should. I've been successful in getting Lba to install and run, it runs perfectly, It seems to be smooth, I have sound, the problem I am having, is that the music is sub-par. I have the 'Relent' version of LBA1 with the original CD, I'm running it on Dosbox because I'm running Win7 64bit and the colours screw up on lbawin. I'm seeing other people complaining of the same thing but haven't really stumbled across any answers yet (I dunno, I might be blind) but I wanted to bring it up again. and for any linux user's reference, this was all done with a Debian Lenny installation. I didn't think it was possible before today. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to get this game to work in linux, with CD audio. Only making a bin/cue copy and THEN converting it to. I have to use more space this way though, since the images are 415MB for lba1 and 571MB for lba2.įor some reason using mkisofs or brasero to make an ISO from the data files you get with the cd mounted in linux doesn't work. I now have both games working with CD audio (well, ogg isn't quite CD quality but it works just fine )) without using the actual CD's. The audio tracks have to be in the same directory as the iso and cue files. For example, "imgmount d relent.cue -t iso". I also ripped the audio tracks, encoded them as. Okay, so after several hours of trying to get an ISO to work (both games) without "no cd" errors, I've found a solution that works for me in linux.ġ)I used Brasero (gnome cd burning application) to make a bin/cue copy of the original CD.Ģ)I used iat to convert the. I would prefer of course a solution which allows it so all I need is on the drive and I do not require the disk. I have two lines of thought:Ī) Is there a way to fix this by moving files or via download?ī) As there are seemingly two disks when I insert the Relentless CD is there a way to make ONE image with the two? (Kind of combining the CDs.) OR need I mount the "Music" CD portion when I load dosbox? It is interesting to note that the "CD Volume" doesn't change anything in game. For the scene at the begginning (Twinsen's dream) I get music, (sadly with the same tinnyness) but for the menu and the game, I do not. Anyway of um "down grading it so it sounds like it did in the good old days?Ģ) The music does not work. Works near perfectly and hiccups every so often but I have 2 chief complaints.ġ) Some voices/music seem very either developed or tinny. I then copied the Music (I think they are MP3) files and shoved them into the folder. What I did was make an image of the "game" cd, then installed the game using boxer (which is the mac friendlier version of DOSboxer.) I then, as chaos fish said to do, copied my VOX files to the folder on the computer. Now on my desktop, when I insert the CD two CD's pop up on the screen, one is the game hardware, and one is what the comp recognizes as music CD. How to Install Windows 3.Speech files work fine, as to sound effects and what not (Although the music/voices seem more modern than I remember - would be nice to get the good old cheesy tones back lol) but I do NOT get music =(. ISO file you will need to provide your own copy of Windows 3 you can probably find a copy of Windows 3 on the website, according to a article I found that explains how to install Windows 3 using DOSBox you run the SETUP.EXE program using the DOS terminal then proceed with the installation here is a link to the article: If you have plans to install Windows 3 use a. The reason why I did not install Windows 3 using DOSBox would be, because I don't actually have a reason to use Windows 3, and Windows 3 is not the same as Windows 95 or Windows 98 I don't even know what programs can be installed on Windows 3 I would say Windows 95 would have a better software library, the problem with using Windows with DOSBox on a RPI computer the emulation speed I tried to install Windows 95 using DOSBox on a RPI3 the installer would not initialize DOS would not continue with the installation.
